In intertwining culture and craft, our clients are industry leaders who trust us to deliver marketing results and experiences that meet their objectives. To cut the long story short, we offer marketing solutions for brands and businesses. Beyond this, we also inspire audiences to live vibrantly! Our blog platform is a digital destination for discovering African/Black-owned fashion, beauty, and lifestyle with a growing community of like-minded people—both in the diaspora and beyond—who share a love for the continent’s cultures and heritage.
The woman herself, Jamila, is a Nigerian-born communications and marketing consultant based in Canada. She is dedicated to helping readers lead fulfilling lives through exciting articles, vibrant visuals, and compelling narratives. Each piece of storytelling and creative content at the intersection of fashion, beauty and lifestyle helps YOU live vibrantly. It also conjures an eclectic, yet elegant sense of style by mixing colourful African wax prints with cultural inspirations, and then pairing them with other Western influences. All these have forged the brand’s values, founded on a zeal for inspiring others to live colourful, vibrant and bold. This allows the savvy, stylish person (African or not) and the brands in alignment with this philosophy who cater to them, to connect, communicate and engage in commerce.

Our History
Jamila’s foray into fashion began with playing dress up inside her late mother’s closet as a little girl in Nigeria. It later transitioned into watching runway shows on television and since then, she has never looked back on her love for style. After immigrating to Canada as young woman, she went through many moments of feeling disconnected from home and in the complex process of finding her sense of belonging while becoming grounded in an inherently Black identity, she reconnected with a love for nostalgic African wax print fabrics, popularly known as “Ankara” in West Africa. What happened next was inevitable. These fabrics, with their vibrant colours, intricate designs and bold patterns began to shape her adult personality while providing a burst of confidence. At the same time, her flair for creative writing and communication arts would lead her into documenting stylish pastimes around the growing popularity of these fabrics and the African fashion industry for the reading pleasure of others.
The brand was launched in March 2017 and the site, only a blog at the time has grown into a global fashion, beauty and lifestyle destination for a community of colour and print loving individuals. By studying the needs and tastes of her audience, Jamila Kyari spotted an opportunity to create comfy, chic and casual print apparel in simple styles — ones that could fit easily in any into any closet, pairing with existing outfits without looking too eccentric. Eventually, a limited collection of tote bags was born. And these remain a fun, yet subtle means of easing beginners into the maximalist lifestyle. Going forward, the brand hopes to produce a variety of accessories and continue on the path of marketing diverse brands into the mainstream. Join us as we embark on this vibrant journey!
Growth is important for Jamila Kyari Co. but not at the expense of people and their individual or collective wellbeing. Thus, the company is choosing to grow and expand at a steady pace with values that involve prioritizing the growth of community over commerce. Sustainable Development: People matter and are at the heart of what the brand does. The company believes that local communities and their economies are sustained when everyone on the supply chain operates ethically. Honouring African Heritage: African wax prints originated in Europe with roots dating back to Indonesia. However, in addition to the growing popularity of everything from jollof rice to Afrobeats, these prints are now relevant and synonymous with the global African identity. Quality Craftsmanship: The company appreciates the skills of its clients and production partners. The company ensures that it works with brands whose production materials and other deliverables are sourced carefully while each item is stitched to perfection with the utmost care.

“Jamila was an integral part of our successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for the Bohten5 collection. As a consultant for our brand, she helped us structure our promotional campaign messages to our fan base and beyond. I am happy with her services because she went above and beyond to ensure that we had a successful campaign. To cap off the project, she also landed us a CBC news article which was a very big deal. I would recommend her as a pivotal part of any marketing and public relations team to help your company reach its full potential.”
