Zeena Kay is a Cameroonian-Canadian fashion designer whose designs feature an Afro-Western flare for the fashion-forward woman. She has an Etsy store where you can shop her clothing at and she often attends various fashion shows in Toronto where her styles often grace the runway. Her collections have been featured at the African Fashion Week in Toronto many times and this year, she is launching the SummerCentric collection – a range of summer styles for the woman who not only desires to connect with her eccentric side but wants to dazzle in the spotlight at events.
A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of being a part of the photo shoot and it was very interesting. Everyone on the team did an amazing job of ensuring that the looks came together seamlessly and the photos are simply gorgeous. In this particular shoot, I am wearing one of the best sellers, a dashiki dress whose print fabric is originally from West Africa and is a very popular choice for most people who love African fashion.
While each piece in this African fashion collection is special, the hi-low skirts and tube tops are probably one of the best I have seen and would make for a great signature piece in any wardrobe. They look really fun and although the skirts are lined with tulle, they have just the right amount in the proper places without making the look too puffy or overwhelming. You can take each look from day to night easily by pairing with your favourite set of heels.
While it is not quite summer yet, many teenagers will get to say “yes to the dress” as prom season is almost here. Zeena Kay’s SummerCentric collection features flamboyant dresses that will make any female feel special as the true belle of the ball. From flared dresses to high-low skirts to jumpsuits, the brand has everything. When it comes to fashion in general, Zeena Kay designs are for the bold, free-spirited woman who is not afraid to shine and if that is you, the SummerCentric collection will definitely catch your eye, keep you engaged and leave you wanting for more. Enjoy the pictures!
