Luvvie Ajayi and Yvonne Orji took their popular “Jesus and Jollof” podcast to the stage at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. Both ladies delivered African culture and fashion with so much energy, passion and a lot of laughs. If you’ve listened to the podcast, you will know what I am talking about. There is so much energy and chemistry in the podcast that it’s literally electrifying – filled with a lot of great nuggets and truly inspirational. Their conversations touch on various different topics from life and spirituality to business and work ethic. In the podcast, they talk about setting goals and overcoming struggles in order to achieve your dreams. It has gotten a lot of positive reviews and it is definitely worth listening to.
Speaking of African fashion, I am so glad Luvvie Ajayi and Yvonne Orji both decided to match each other by wearing the same colour – red. Yvonne kept it simple but daring with the blazer of a tailored print suit from EnaGancio. The full ensemble is described as the KQ Tailored Tuxedo Suite (Rouge) and is available for purchase online via their website so you can check it out there. Beyonce actually also rocked a similar look earlier in the year and it was fabulous as well. Yvonne paired her blazer with shorts and a pair of sexy lace up knee-high boots. She is quite tall and has a great structure so the boots matched the blazer really well. Meanwhile, Luvvie wore a jumpsuit from Ofuure with a pair of booties and it looked so good on her petite silhouette.
As you can see, the Apollo Theatre was completely packed. Everyone came out to support black girl magic and the show was great. Luvvie told ESSENCE magazine online, “I have to say, this is surreal because I used to watch Showtime At The Apollo every Saturday with my family,” Ajayi said. “Watching Ray Chew and the Crew. But this is super surreal because, I didn’t have the dream to ever even be on the Apollo stage. This wasn’t even a bucket list item because it was too big. So, for me, the lesson is to continue to dream even bigger.”
