Setting New Year Goals with Soul and Intention

What does it mean to set New Year goals with soul? It means being intentional with all your decisions and setting the sort of realistic aspirations that fit into your current lifestyle in a practical way. This needs to be done carefully and conscientiously such that you are able to achieve the goals and not be left overwhelmed. Fear at the mere though of what needs to be done, can lead to both inertia and chronic procrastination.

Each year, it is good to reflect on the past and recall what you can do to get better. It makes a lot of sense to set some 2020 New Year’s goals as the first post of the decade. You could start the year with some set plans rather than float aimlessly through life as the months go by. I strongly believe that when you write down the vision you have for the future and make it plain, it is more likely to manifest. Not only is it etched down in paper but it is also written all over your heart and mind. From attaining financial freedom to living my best life and from limiting toxic friendships to maximizing self-care, I am speaking forth love and positivity into this year. Keep reading to see more of ways in which you can start off the New Year.

Eat Fruit and Veggies Regularly

Taking care of the health should take the first spot on your agenda for the year. According to Canada’s food guide, 50 per cent of your meals need to consist of a healthy proteins, whole grains, fruits and vegetables. Along with that, let water be your preferred drink of choice. Limit your sugar intake, cut down on your calories and let go of the processed foods.

Practice Simple Self-Care

2019 was a year of self-care and you can let that trend continue into 2020 as a priority and not an option. It does not have to be something major either. The simple things count as well. Setting aside some alone time for yourself will help you to re-calibrate after a tough day and stay energized so you can continue giving your best to the world. Take long walks. Enjoy hot baths. Read books. Stay active and moving. Don’t stop taking care of yourself.

Invest in Memorable Experiences

Let your New Year goals include investing in experiences that take your breath away. Take a solid chance on you and give yourself the gift of happiness. Special experiences like dinners, travel and entertainment can be expensive. To afford them, consider adopting a minimalist lifestyle that lets you spend less on clothing and reduce debt in order to live out your passion in some other fun moment you’ll never forget.

Engage Yourself in New Hobbies

When was the last time you spent time doing the things you really love such as playing sports, cooking or listening to a podcast? Yes, time is hard to come by but you can make time for the things that are really important to you. They say time flies while you are having fun. Learn a new language, join a book club and start a blog. Spend the most of your days doing the things you are passionate about as well as exploring new hobbies and skills.

Say “No” Often

Are you the one that everyone is turning to with their problems because they know that you will always be available? Or are you constantly burnt out because you are doing too much than you can really handle. Turn down any opportunity that is not right for you. Yes, even the amazing ones because not everything that glitters is actually gold. Say no to toxic friends and relationships. Protect your peace of mind above everything else and reserve your yes for the things that light up a spark in you.

Monetize Your Talents

If you complained a lot about money in 2019, this year does not have to be the same. There are gifts and talents inside you that are calling out for expression. Better yet, some of those gifts can be monetized. Don’t ask for help to come from some external source. Instead, ask yourself what you are doing to achieve financial freedom. In today’s world, one source of income is rarely enough. You need to diversify if you are to live the type of life you truly want. It takes time and effort to figure it out but if you start now, you will be well on your way and a step ahead of others doing nothing.

What are your New Year goals for 2020?

Happy New Year Jamila! Hope the new decade has started well for you ( :
First of all thank you for taking the time to leave a comment on my blog- I’m excited to have discovered your blog!
Your post is right on point and tackles a lot of what I’m dealing with and I’m sure a lot of people are going through as well given that it’s the start of a new year.
I also agree with what you said about making your goals realistic. There can be the temptation to set goals that sound good on social media, to friends etc, but that can lead to procrastination, feeling of failure etc when those goals are not met. One of the things I want to take up this year is to go to cooking classes in my bid to make more friends and learn more dishes to cook in a social environment, Xo
