“We are our biggest critics, we become very uncomfortable when attempting to go outside our comfort zone, in which greatness lies. We must realize we are not defined by our past, yet it is our past which propels us, refines us and unlocks the truth to whom we’ve been called to be as we journey along to our destiny,” she Nini Amerlise. She expressed the sincerity and wholesomeness she felt while connecting with the students at CTA. The entire student body was left speechless while hearing the trail blazing story of resilience, consistency, and perseverance that Amerlise used to overcome her childhood struggle with self –esteem, suicide, anxiety and learning difficulties.
The workshop had something for every student to connect to, whether it was the breakdown of brand marketing, packaging, confidence and self-esteem development or even the fashion show segment highlighting incredible African print designs and a few sponsored pieces from Toronto Fashion Academy. Kevin D’Souza, Head Director of the Black Student Alliance accomplished his impact goals. Each student at CTA had the opportunity to hear tangible real-life experiences from mentors who grew up in their very own region, which in turn was an exchange of transferable entrepreneurial skill, motivation, and life lessons.
