Chale.Global Taps Into Friendly Ghanaian Spirit for Collections and London Pop-Up

After successful pop-ups in New York City and during Afrochella Festival in Accra, Ghana, Chale.Global brought their globally popular brand to London to connect with supporters who previously could only purchase online or at retailers in Ghana. Chalé was a featured brand at Black in Carnaby, the first Black-owned physical concept store in London’s West End, managed by My Runway Group.

Held on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Black in Carnaby, the pop up featured culturally-themed socks, sweaters, sweatshirts, jerseys, and totes reflecting African youth culture and Ghana’s vibrant street and urban subcultures. The event launched at 12:00 p.m. and was followed by a cocktail reception at 6:00 p.m. sponsored by London Manya, a sparkling palm wine spirit.

“With the rise of Afrobeats and African pop music and culture, there has been more attention than ever on all things African including fashion brands. Chalé is among the new wave of young African designers who are inspired by the music and are fusing aspects of their culture and homeland with a fresh global perspective,” says Muhammida El Muhajir, Director of Strategy at WaxPrint Media.

Chale’ in the Ghanaian language, Ga, means friend or buddy and is the most popular Ghanaian icebreaker. You would greet and address a friend as Chale! They describe themselves as “Chale.Global is a forward thinking fashion brand that incorporates the warm friendly Ghanaian Spirit for the young and old who view themselves as global citizens.”

As an inclusive brand, Chale.Global creates functional, urban street fashion essentials that represents borderless friendship. I am particularly fond of their sweaters, which would be great for the winter season and their print socks for both men and women. To shop and learn more, visit them online at their website.

Which of these outfits would you love to wear?
