Floor Picnic In the Living area or Bedroom

The combination of sunshine and warm breeze is a luxury at this time of the year in many parts of the world. When summer picnic and garden weather seems non-existent, you can always transfer the feast indoors. Turn any room in your home into the perfect place to relish a culinary experience. Eating on the floor might not be the most comfortable thing to do but you can set it up anyhow you like for maximum comfort and no one else will judge you for it. Spread a blanket to cushion the hard floor and decorate with plush pillows. Create the perfect charcuterie board filled with a mix of tastes and flavours to engage your palate. Keep an eye out for a beautiful presentation. The ambience has to feel inviting just as the food needs to appear delicious. Incorporate fresh flowers. Lay everything all out beautifully on the blanket. Then, open a bottle of your favourite drink and make a toast to good things.

Cook a Hearty Meal Together

It is so tempting to want restaurant food during a quarantine but you can and should resist the urge to order takeout on this one special day you’ve selected for date night. Instead, cook a hearty meal together. Everyone knows that food is more fun when there is more than one person involved. Rock the recipes and rhythms together.  How about enjoying some banter over a bubbling pot of pasta or nodding to some reggae music while you make a pizza? Anyone you choose will be just perfect in the eyes of your beloved. Teach each other to create great tasting dishes in the kitchen. Save money on ordering out all the time. Spice it all up with good conversation about you are both passionate about. End the night with a mouthful of your favourite dessert. Past this point, there will be no use arguing about who will do the dishes. They can wait until the next morning!

Take the Virtual Tour of a Museum

When you’re ready to take a break from Netflix, you can make the switch to something else. In this case, YouTube just might be your best friend because you can practically do a search for virtual video tours of some of the world’s major museums and be instantly transported through time and space without moving an inch. For example, a search for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC might offer a prelude of what you can expect when visiting by watching their videos. If you are an art lover, you can also check out the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and watch their interview series to learn about their various artists. Here is a particularly interesting interview of Artist, Wangechi Mutu below.

Hopefully, these suggestions will be enough to get you thinking about other creative ways to spend a date night. The truth is that at the end of the day, it is really not about the activity you both do together but the type of energy you are bringing to into it. During these coronavirus times, we all could use a big break and the ability to do something fun just makes getting through this phase a lot more bearable. Here is a tip – before committing the time and effort into date night, make sure you take some time off work to plan ahead and get everything you need all set up. Don’t leave the work to the other person alone. Execute as a team and reap the rewards together.

Which one of these ideas do you love the most and what are your Valentine’s Day plans?
