H&M has collaborated with Mantsho, a South African label to produce a capsule collection that will be launching in select stores across the UK on August 15. This will be the retailers first African collaboration since it started working with fashion designers in 2014 to produce clothing for its stores. H&M’s collaboration with Mantsho collaboration went for playful print looks that are fresh, flowy and flattering to the feminine form. These looks are then completed by matching print espadrilles, chunky earrings and a woven clutch.
The dresses for H&M come in an array of African-inspired prints with their colours ranging from baby blues, browns and blacks to hues of pink and amber reds, all of which celebrate the elegance and vibrancy of Africa. Mantsho translates to “black is beautiful” in Creative Director for Mantsho, Palesa Mokubung’s native Sesotho language.
Mokubung’s work for H&M is definitely reflective of such beauty in all of its forms as the capsule pieces are a curation of her most popular work from past collections. “This is my love letter to the world from Africa,” she said in the official press release. “I hope customers around the world will enjoy this ensemble of my standout pieces from my last three collections.
Rightfully so, the pieces are stunning to say the least. This collection’s baby blue print is perfect for the end of summer while the other dresses have just the right balance of bright and dark colours that are appropriate for the fall when temperatures begin to cool. My favourite item will probably have to be the embroidered sweater and print blue skirt to match as can be seen in the pictures below.
Prior to this, Mokubung has shown various of her past collections in South Africa, while gracing a number of runways in the United States, Greece, India and Senegal. The Mantsho collection for H&M will be priced between £24.99 – £79.99 and is expected to be sold online and in selected UK stores from August 15.
What do you love the most about H&M’s collaboration with Mantsho, a South African label?

For sure. My favourite part is the earrings. I can’t wait to get my hands on a pair!
Oh how exciting! I did not know this. I love the bell sleeved dresses and the geometric print pull-over and skirts! I am steering clear of fast fashion but for this collab I may make a an exception.
PS: You may want to rethink the ADs on your site. They are very intrusive and make it difficult to read your post, look at the photos and most importantly to leave a comment. Four times I almost gave up. They actually made me angry and frustrated which makes visiting your site not that enjoyable even though I love the content. Just a tip.

Hello Allie,
Thank you so much for leaving me such an important tip. I just joined an ad network a few months ago and there is no way to know how the ads are doing except for comments like yours. So, it means a lot that you took the time to let me know about it. I’ll be looking into fixing this as soon as possible!
What a gorgeous collection! The vibrant prints are so much fun! I definitely need to go see this collection in store. I’m really liking those espadrilles.

The earrings are actually my favourite part of the collaboration and then the embroidered shirt. I wish these would be available in stores out here in Canada. I will check if they have it online once it launches on August 15th.
This collection looks so beautiful! It’s hard to choose my favorite piece, but I absolutely love the design on the earrings! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
