The Maasai is a Kenyan tribe known for their intricate beadwork and colourful design. Pikolinos Shoes has tapped into their art to bring you a range of summer shoes, mostly sandals. Beautiful sandals made for beautiful feet. That’s the first thing that comes to mind when I consider the Pikolinos Shoes Maasai Project. They have done a brilliant job in working with local artisans to create unique, one-of-a-kind Kenyan Maasai-inspired shoes you cannot find anywhere else.
In collaboration with the NGO Adcam, Pikolinos shoes decided to work with Maasai women to decorate shoes with hand sewn designs and beadwork. This type of partnerships give the women a chance to earn decent wages in order to maintain their culture and lifestyle.
Each shoe is carefully crafted. The creativity and stitching is amazing. Every detail is carefully stitched to perfection by hand. Hard to believe these are all made by hand if you ask me but well worth it. I can’t wait to get my hand on one of these Pikolinos Shoes. They are the perfect pair for summer and such a great way to show off Kenyan heritage.
